Keith Azzopardi Tanti Launches ‘Innovating Truth’ Conference Promoting Critical Thinking in the Digital Age

Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, opened a conference organised by the RISE Foundation entitled “Innovating Truth: An Inquiry into Hypertextethics”.

The event served as a platform for dialogue between young people, academics, and professionals on the relationship between truth, technology, and ethics in contemporary thought.

The conference explored how truth is no longer viewed as a single, absolute concept, but rather as a dynamic process that evolves through experiences, contexts, and the diversity of interpretations that shape modern society. Within this framework, the Hypertextethics project was launched, offering a new space for reflection that encourages participants to embrace different viewpoints and to develop a more inclusive and critical awareness of communication and information in the 21st century.

The conference also encouraged young people to develop critical thinking skills, make informed decisions, engage actively in their communities, and strengthen their mental and emotional well-being. It promoted a more nuanced understanding of modern life, where information is not passively accepted but analysed, interpreted, and contextualised in a deeper and more responsible way.

In his address, Parliamentary Secretary Azzopardi Tanti stated, “This conference reminds us that truth is not a final verdict, but a continuous journey of discovery. The Hypertextethics project is a clear example of how we can inspire young people to better understand the complex world around them by valuing different perspectives and creativity as tools of expression and empowerment. As a Government, we want every young person to have the tools to interpret, understand, and create a fairer and more open reality a vision that builds on the principles of Malta 2050.”

This conference also reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening a culture of critical dialogue, research, and innovation as foundations for future society. It represents another step towards an educational and cultural vision that places the individual and their well-being at its core.
