Julianne Vella Appointed Malta’s United Nations Youth Delegate

Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Chris Fearne presented the Appointment Certificate to Julianne Vella as Malta’s United Nations Youth Delegate.

Over the next two years, she will represent Maltese young people at various international United Nations forums, bringing their perspectives to discussions on issues of global importance.

She will join Samuel Camilleri Brincat, who has served as Malta’s United Nations Youth Delegate over the past year, with the two continuing to represent the views of Maltese youth at an international level.

The United Nations Youth Delegate programme has been operating in Malta since 2021 and has continued to grow stronger each year.

This year, the programme attracted a record 31 applications, reflecting the growing interest among Maltese young people in contributing to international discussions and representing their country on the global stage.

Minister Fearne explained that youth participation in foreign policy is essential to ensure that young people’s voices are represented in decisions that are shaping the present and the future.

He added that through the United Nations Youth Delegate programme, Malta continues to provide young people with concrete opportunities to contribute to international discussions and represent their country in United Nations forums.

Julianne Vella said she felt honoured to have been given this responsibility and looked forward to representing Maltese youth internationally. “I am eager to begin working for Malta by bringing the voice of Maltese young people to United Nations forums and contributing to the promotion of peace, multilateralism and dialogue.”

Julianne Vella has experience in youth representation, governance and international cooperation. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science and Politics at University College Dublin and has held various roles with national and international youth organisations.
