Jason Micallef Shares The Story Behind This Year’s Stunning Valletta Christmas Tree

The Chairman of the Valletta Cultural Agency, Jason Micallef, took to social media as excitement builds around this year’s newly completed Christmas tree in the capital city. The installation is already drawing crowds, turning heads, and receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback.
In his post, Micallef shared the story behind the project. Revealing that earlier this year, in February, he received a message from local creative talent Henry Galea, who introduced himself and expressed his wish to design and build Valletta’s 2025 Christmas tree. Although they had never met in person, Micallef immediately embraced the idea.
A first meeting in March at the Agency's offices set the project in motion, followed by weeks of messages, emails, calls, and planning sessions. The result will be revealed on Tuesday, when the tree, illuminated by 2,000 metres of lights, will be officially unveiled.
Micallef also noted a morning coffee meeting with Galea and collaborators Jason Zerafa and Ryan Pillow, praising their hard work and creativity. He extended thanks to the many team members at the Agency whose support made the project possible.
The public is invited to join the lighting ceremony on Tuesday at 5:30pm in Valletta, promising a festive and memorable start to the season.
