‘IŻ-ŻUNŻANA DDUR IDDUR, FIL-PJAZZA TAL-IMTARFA’: FAMILY EVENT TO INAUGURATE SQAURE REGENERATION

This coming Saturday, 8 November, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the Public Works Department will be holding a family event entitled “Iż-Żunżana ddur iddur – fil-Pjazza tal-Imtarfa”.
The event will also serve as the official inauguration of the extensive regeneration of Imtarfa Square. Through this project, the Public Works Department doubled the usable space in the area, with an investment of around €1.5 million.
Announcing the event, the Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Omar Farrugia, stated that this activity is a clear example of “where we want to take Public Works” – not only creating public open spaces, as is currently being done and will continue across the country, but also ensuring that these spaces are used for activities that Maltese and Gozitan families can enjoy.
The Parliamentary Secretary encouraged the public to attend and “come together to enjoy a regenerated square with our families.”
Farrugia added that the regeneration of this square clearly demonstrates the “commitment of Public Works not only to begin such projects, but to complete and inaugurate them, continuing to improve the quality of life in our communities.”
The Mayor, Dale Hayman, stated that after only a year and a half, Imtarfa now has a larger and more beautiful square for residents to enjoy and use. He thanked the Public Works Department not only for carrying out the regeneration but also for organising this Saturday’s event. Hayman echoed the Parliamentary Secretary’s message, encouraging families to attend.
The event will feature a wide variety of food, including traditional Maltese dishes such as snails, as well as popular favourites like pizza and burgers. There will also be numerous children’s games, from obstacle courses to traditional Maltese games such as hopscotch, marbles, bocci, and sack and potato races. In addition, the event will include a parade by the Imtarfa Scouts Group, along with singing, and other entertainment by TikkaBanda.
