Total outbound tourist trips in the third quarter of 2025 were estimated at 270,635, marking an increase of 7.9% compared to the same period in 2024.

Outbound tourists spent a total of 2,093,884 nights abroad, up 16.7% over the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Between July and September, 193,557 trips were undertaken for holiday purposes, while 48,474 trips were made to visit friends and relatives.

Most outbound travellers were aged between 25 and 44 years, representing 43.5% of the total, followed by those aged 45-64 at 30.6%.

Trips to EU countries increased by 6.1%, while travel to non-EU countries grew by 14.1% compared with the third quarter of 2024. Italy remained the most popular destination, accounting for 38.7% of total outbound trips.

Rented accommodation establishments hosted the largest share of nights abroad, 55.5% of the total. The average length of stay for all outbound tourists stood at 7.7 nights.

Total estimated expenditure for outbound tourists in the third quarter reached €304.3 million, averaging €1,125 per person.

For the first nine months of 2025, total outbound trips numbered 661,026, an increase of 6.8% over the same period in 2024. Nights spent abroad rose by 16.8% to reach 4.9 million, while total expenditure by resident tourists reached €681.8 million, 16.5% higher than in 2024.
