Ira Losco Reflects On ‘Double The Work’ For Artists Due To Social Media

Taking to social media, local queen of pop Ira Losco reflected on how things have changed for artists upon the advent of social media.
‘Don’t feel like creating content this morning’, she wrote on her stories. ‘Not that I do so on a. Regular basis. Sometimes I just stop and think about how I got thrown into this crap.’
‘I’m from the original marketing era. Where a person got asked to foot a brand because they were singer/actors or TV hosts. You got asked to do a photoshoot. The photos were used on magazines or on billboards. Your work was done.’
‘Now if you’re a musician you have to also create content besides writing songs/albums, come up with concepts for your music videos and film those.’
‘Create your visuals for concerts and take on musical direction for those. Keep up with your bookings. Now you have to also create content which sometimes is so lame a$$ to get the followers.’
‘I really feel for the younger artists who have been born into this era. It’s more dog eat dog than ever and it’s really distracting when what we should all be focusing on is writing music not creating TikTok or Insta content.’
She went on to add that it costs musicians/artists ‘A BOMB TO CREATE their music and videos and then they have to also use their time to create the in between content.’
‘So the job is double the amount of work. All this I say with no disrespect to anyone. But just to make some aware of how this works.’
What do you think?
