Investment Into St Vincent De Paul Fire Section

St Vincent de Paul is carrying out a major investment in its safety operations through improvements to its fire section.
This includes the purchase of a new specialised vehicle and the start of renovation works on the building that houses the department.
Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing, Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, met with the fire section team, which now consists of 18 members.

This represents a significant increase compared with a few years ago, when only two staff were assigned to the section.
Resident safety in the complex will now be supported by a new purpose-built vehicle, representing an investment of €55,000. This is the first time the fire section will have its own transport, which will facilitate emergency responses, inspections, and other related operations.
Renovation work is also underway on the building that will accommodate the department’s offices and equipment. The improvements focus on infrastructure, fire-fighting equipment, breathing apparatus, and other personal protective gear for staff.
These upgrades are designed to ensure the highest standards of safety and functionality, enabling a rapid and effective response to emergencies.
Fire section staff operate 24 hours a day, with four members on each shift. They are responsible for regular inspections of fire-fighting equipment throughout the complex and for training staff on the correct use of different types of equipment.
They are also able to manage minor incidents on-site and provide support to Civil Protection when required.
Commenting on the investment, Parliamentary Secretary Malcolm Paul Agius Galea said it demonstrates a clear commitment to the safety of residents and staff, as well as a vision for proactive, responsible, and efficient care.
“Thanks to the dedication of the Fire Section team, we are now in a better position to respond to any emergency and ensure a safe environment for the entire community,” he concluded.
