Robert Abela has stated that the INT MALTA manifesto is aimed at further improving the wellbeing and quality of life of the Maltese and Gozitan people through a series of social, economic and environmental measures.

Speaking during the Magħkom activity held at Milbrae Grove in Mosta, the Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party said that the proposals included in the INT MALTA manifesto are expected to improve residents’ quality of life by 25%.

He stressed that every proposal has been carefully studied, planned and fully costed.

Abela explained that Malta’s strong economy is enabling the Government to reinvest wealth back into families and communities.

Among the measures announced are proposals intended to provide parents with more time to spend with their children.

These include extending maternity leave by eight weeks, increasing paternity leave to one month, introducing six months of parental leave, and granting an additional 28 days of leave during the first two years of a child’s life. The Government would finance all of these measures.

The Prime Minister also referred to financial initiatives aimed at supporting households, including a proposed €1,000 “super bonus” for workers.

Part-time employees earning less than €12,000 annually would receive a pro rata payment of at least €500. He added that discussions would also begin with stakeholders to further strengthen flexible working arrangements.

Abela concluded by saying that the INT MALTA manifesto reflects the Labour Party’s commitment to continue investing in families, businesses and public spaces while ensuring that nobody is left behind.
