INNSiDE by Meliá Bugibba has officially opened as part of Agius Group’s growing hospitality portfolio, combining contemporary design with spaces focused on both work and leisure.

The hotel features a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the bay and forms part of the Group’s wider partnership with Meliá Hotels International, which includes plans for at least 10 hotels across Malta and Gozo.

The new Bugibba property is the fourth hotel launched by Agius Group under its hospitality arm, Blue Clay Collection. The partnership has already brought different Meliá brands and hospitality concepts to the islands, with three of the four operational hotels located in Gozo.

The portfolio currently employs more than 100 people, with further properties planned in Valletta, Għarb, Qala, Għajnsielem and St Julian’s.

The opening was attended by Prime Minister Robert Abela, who praised the Group’s investment in tourism as a sign of “confidence in the potential of our country”.

Abela said the project reflected the ambition of a Gozitan family business that has grown over 75 years, as well as its willingness to invest, adapt and explore new opportunities.

“Our message is clear: we want a tourism industry that competes on quality, not simply on numbers,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that while the government has a responsibility to create the right conditions for investment through stronger infrastructure and connectivity, entrepreneurs ultimately make the decision to invest and believe in Malta’s potential.

Agius Group Managing Director Maria Agius described the partnership with Meliá as an important part of the family business’ next chapter, saying the identity of the hotels would come from the people working in them.

Meliá’s Area Managing Director for Western & Southern Europe Alfredo Aznar said the partnership reflected the company’s confidence in Malta’s potential, adding that the aim was to create hotels that respect local identity while offering international hospitality standards.
