Infrastructural Project In Sir Harry Luke Street, Mġarr Completed

Sir Harry Luke Street in Mġarr has undergone a significant transformation following the completion of a €700,000 infrastructural project aimed at improving safety, accessibility and overall quality of life for residents.
The project, led by the Public Works Department, forms part of a wider national effort to upgrade residential roads that had for years required major intervention.

In recent months, the department has intensified its work across Malta, and the regeneration of this key street in Mġarr stands out as one of the most substantial upgrades.
Sir Harry Luke Street serves as a major route linking several localities, meaning the improvements will benefit not only residents but also the many drivers who pass through the area daily.
Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia visited the site to mark the completion of the project, emphasising that such investment is essential for strengthening road safety and providing long term peace of mind for communities.
He noted that holistic projects like this ensure that infrastructure meets modern standards while addressing long standing issues.
The works carried out were extensive and carefully planned. They included the construction of 350 metres of new pavements, new manholes to support ongoing maintenance, and the laying of around 450 metres of electricity and telecommunications cabling.
To tackle stormwater challenges, new culverts were installed, along with rubble walls to improve stability and safety near nearby fields.

The project also introduced new street lighting, upgraded water and drainage services for homes close to Triq Temi Żammit, and 3,600 square metres of fresh asphalt.
Mġarr Mayor Paul Vella welcomed the project, stressing its importance for both drivers and pedestrians who rely on this essential road.
