Independent Team Of 9 Candidates For KSU Elections Announced
Local

Mill-istudent għall-istudent has officially presented its nomination for the upcoming KSU elections, putting forward an independent team of nine candidates focused on student-first representation and youth rights, while ‘rejecting the traditional two-party structure that has long shaped student politics.’

The team is led by Nick Muscat, who is contesting for President, alongside Gianluca Xuereb, Maya Debono, Francesca Anastasi, Ruth Sciberras, Matthias Zahra, Moesha Debattista, Jesmiel Raines and Angelie Feroleto.

‘At the core of the group’s message is the belief that KSU exists to serve students.’

Within the University of Malta, they argue that representation should reflect key academic values such as critical thinking, participation, accountability and free expression.

The group maintains that KSU should function as an independent student union rather than an extension of partisan structures.

The candidates describe themselves as a group formed organically through shared experiences and a common dissatisfaction with the current electoral system. They aim to bring forward fresh ideas and practical proposals to improve student life and representation across the university community.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Nick Muscat said the group was built to reflect the realities and potential of today’s students. He emphasised that the candidates were chosen for their commitment, involvement and ideas, rather than solely on academic merit.
