Increase in Road Official Presence, Prime Minister Announces

Speaking during an interview on ONE, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that there will be an increase in road traffic official presence due to the concerns over road accidents.

Abela said that motorists have a great responsibility and that it is unacceptable to drink and drive or to drive under the influence of drugs.

He announced that there will be an increased presence of officials from Transport Malta, LESA and the Police on the roads.

A review of penalties is also being studied said the Prime Minister, including their deterrent effect, and educational campaigns will also be carried out in this regard.

He drew on a recent personal experience which saw his parents involved in a traffic accident, saying that he understands how traumatic being or having someone you love involved in such an accident.
