Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti officially opened the Malta Statue Collectors Statue Expo 2026 at the Montekristo Arena, marking the largest and most ambitious edition of the event to date.

Organised by Malta Statue Collectors, the exhibition highlights the rapid growth of a community that began as a local Facebook group and has evolved into a recognised platform for artistry and fandom. This year’s expo showcases more than 100 premium statues, featuring well known characters from Marvel and DC, alongside figures from film and gaming.

Beyond its visual appeal, the event also promotes learning by encouraging visitors to explore themes related to science and psychology through familiar characters such as Captain America and Wolverine. The initiative aims to demonstrate how popular culture can offer insight into broader topics including identity and human behaviour.

In his address, Azzopardi Tanti described the exhibition as a strong example of how creativity and community engagement can come together. He noted that such platforms provide space for artistic expression while also inspiring younger generations to explore innovation.

Founder of Malta Statue Collectors Matthew Mamo reflected on the group’s journey since its establishment in 2021. Together with Alexei Sammut and Jason Caruana, he has helped build a supportive network for collectors while also establishing connections with international artists.

Mamo said the aim has always been to bring enthusiasts together and highlight the craftsmanship behind each piece. He added that hosting Malta’s largest statue exhibition represents a significant milestone for the community. This year’s event also features international artist Daniele Angelozzi, further strengthening its global reach.

The Malta Statue Collectors Statue Expo 2026 is open to the public over the weekend, offering free admission and providing visitors with the opportunity to experience a diverse display of art within a vibrant and growing community.
