Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated Ġnien it-Tfal Qriema in Ħal Qormi alongside Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri and in the presence of President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

The project was completed through an investment of €1.9 million, mainly financed by the National Development and Social Fund and INDIS Malta. Covering 3,600 square metres, the garden has been transformed into a modern community space with recreational and educational facilities for families and children in Ħal Qormi.

Addressing those present, Prime Minister Abela said the project forms part of a wider vision to create more open spaces that improve quality of life within local communities.

He referred to the recent agreement through which Manoel Island and Fort Tigné were returned to the public, saying the same vision is being implemented across localities.

He described the garden as a place where families can relax and enjoy their community, while encouraging children and residents to take care of the space.

Abela also highlighted the library within the garden, named after Anthony J. Coleiro, educator and philanthropist, and father of Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

Minister Schembri said a strong economy allows the Government to continue investing in projects that directly improve people’s lives. He described the garden as a direct investment in Qormi families and the wider community.

President Emeritus Coleiro Preca said spaces like these allow children to play freely, build friendships and create lasting memories away from screens and indoor environments.
