The Rescue Coordination Centre has resumed the search for the 13 year old Polish national in Ċirkewwa after she was swept out to sea.

Is-Servizz Pubbliku shared photos of the ongoing courage of the disciplined forces conducting the search, with the public being urged to avoid the area so as not to impede the effort.

‘It’s not easy spending your work day looking for a 13 year old girl in rough seas, cold, darkness and rough weather conditions’, explained Is-Servizz Pubbliku.

‘We cannot understand what these workers have experienced, but we remain proud that our country has people like them. People you will always find to help us.’

Despite the rough weather conditions around the island, both aerial and maritime assets were actively engaged throughout the entire day yesterday in extensive search efforts, an Armed Forces of Malta statement explained.

The search is set to continue today. This follows her brother being rescued shortly after the incident was reported.

Unfortunately, the girl has not yet been located.

With rough seas and strong winds expected to persist during the week, RCC Malta urges the public to keep well clear of exposed coastal areas and avoid getting close to the shoreline. Do not risk your life, maintain a safe and respectful distance from the sea.
