In Photos: Progress On The Ħal Far Malta Race Track

Photos, taken by Mark Scerri and posted to UK & European Drag Racing Photos, show some shots from the Ħal Far Raceway as ongoing construction and restructuring takes place.
Among the visitors was Prime Minister Robert Abela, who praised the work during an event organised by the Malta Drag Racing Association (MDRA).
The visit formed part of an open day held in support of Puttinu Cares, which raised €3,500 by the end of the event.
During his tour, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the long‑promised racetrack, noting that the project has been pledged by several administrations but will be delivered under his leadership.
He described the development as a personal ambition, reflecting his passion for motorsport, and emphasised that works are progressing according to established timelines.
The project, launched at the end of 2024, aims to create a facility that meets Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) certification standards and can be included in the international racing calendar.
Major upgrades include the reconstruction of driver facilities, relocation of the control tower to extend the track, expanded safety measures, and a larger spectator stand accommodating up to 3,000 people.
The control tower and press room are also being rebuilt to meet international requirements, marking a significant step forward for Malta’s motorsport infrastructure.
