In Photos: Damage To Għar Lapsi After Storm Harry

Għar Lapsi sustained heavy damage during Storm Harry yesterday, with the storm wrecking the walkways, pulling up stones and bringing down structures.

Photos sent to Malta Daily by @julian_briffa_4 shows the extent of the severe damage.

Taking to social media, Siġġiewi mayor Julian Borg shared photos of Għar Lapsi after it sustained heavy damage due to Storm Harry.

Borg said he felt incredibly sad seeing Għar Lapsi being destroyed and being unable to do anything. ‘Nature is too strong.’

‘I give my word that, along with my fellow council members, we will work tirelessly to bring back the Għar Lapsi we had’, said Borg.

A team will be going on site today, accompanied by the Public Works Department, led by Parliamentary Secretary Omar Farrugia, to begin outlining a plan of restoration.

He however advised persons not to go close to the bay or even the BBQ area given that much of the hazardous debris will still be there.
