The Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has officially launched the programme of activities for Imnarja 2026, one of Malta’s oldest and most cherished cultural traditions.

This year’s celebrations will feature a wide range of cultural, agricultural and traditional activities spread across several days. Visitors can look forward to animal shows, agricultural machinery exhibitions, fruit and vegetable displays, farming-related competitions, folkloric performances and audiovisual experiences.

The main events will take place at Buskett on 28 and 29 June, where the public will be invited to enjoy a diverse programme celebrating Malta’s rural and agricultural heritage.

Speaking at the launch, Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo described Imnarja as an important occasion that honours the country’s farming traditions while recognising the dedication of Maltese and Gozitan farmers and livestock breeders.

He said the activities are designed to bring the public closer to the agricultural sector and strengthen appreciation for traditions that remain relevant today.

The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local agriculture and promoting awareness of the importance of food production and Malta’s rural heritage.
