IMF Confirms Wealth Generated Per Person In Malta Doubled, Says PM

Prime Minister Robert Abela said that a recent report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) provided clear international confirmation of the strength of Malta’s economy.

Speaking in Birgu, Abela said that the IMF not only certified the country’s economic stability but also recorded that the wealth generated per person in Malta has doubled.

He said this was a significant endorsement from a respected international institution and evidence that the Government’s economic policies are delivering tangible results.

Abela explained that the IMF’s assessment shows Malta is in a strong position to continue investing in people while maintaining economic resilience.

He said that this performance has enabled the Government to introduce the largest tax reduction in the country’s history, including tax cuts aimed at supporting families.

He added that these measures apply to all families, including those with one child, contrasting them with Opposition proposals which would have excluded around 30,000 families.

This comes as PN Leader Alex Borg raised concerns over the IMF report, saying that it confirmed the Opposition’s concerns about population growth.

The fact that Malta has a population density more than 15 times the EU average confirms a reality that Malta cannot ignore, Borg said.
