‘Imago Sagra’ Exhibition Inaugurated At The Parliament Of Malta

Speaker of the House of Representatives Carmelo Abela inaugurated the “Imago Sagra” exhibition at the Parliament of Malta, showcasing the papier-mâché traditions of Malta and Lecce through a collection of statues and church models.

The inauguration was attended by the President of the Għaqda Dilettanti Mudelli ta’ Knejjes, Vincent Galea, members of the Association, as well as MPs Anthony Agius Decelis and Justin Schembri.

During the event, Speaker Abela highlighted the Association’s 40 years of work and the dedication of those who have contributed their time, skills and passion towards preserving these traditions. “You bring the spirit of togetherness to life: you bring people together, unite them and give them joy through what they love,” the Speaker said.

He emphasised the importance of continued support for local talent and encouraged more young people to learn the crafts linked to these traditions, ensuring they remain part of Malta’s communities. Speaker Abela also thanked the organisers, exhibitors and all those who have supported the Association throughout its four decades of activity, as well as Fr Michael Camilleri for blessing the exhibition.

Vincent Galea thanked Parliament for hosting the exhibition and invited the public to visit it between 29 September and 9 October 2026. The exhibition will also be open during Notte Bianca on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
