“Ilna S-Snin Ngħixu Bil-Medjokrità - Ħaqqna Aħjar”

Leader of the Opposition and Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg has called on the Government to use tomorrow’s Budget to address Malta’s biggest problems, warning that the country risks facing greater difficulties if it continues prioritising short-term political interests over future generations.
Speaking during a political event in Ħaż-Żebbuġ, Borg said Malta had been living with mediocrity for years and deserved better, highlighting persistent traffic congestion, electricity disruptions, rising bills and sewage pollution.
He insisted that the Budget should provide a clear direction for investment in energy, water, roads, hospitals and public services, while supporting businesses through artificial intelligence, digitalisation, technology and robotics.
Alex Borg also questioned what had happened to the €100 million promised by the Government last year for technological investment.
Referring to an EY survey, he said only 3% of Malta’s economic growth came from productivity, while real productivity per hour worked fell by 0.9%. He also cited the TomTom Traffic Index, which estimates that Maltese people spend 94 hours annually stuck in traffic.
Borg said the PN wanted to become a better Government, arguing that tomorrow’s Budget must focus on the next generation rather than the next election.
