Illegal Waste Burning Caught Near Rabat
Local

During a routine shift, Rangers spotted thick black smoke near Rabat. Investigating, they found two individuals illegally burning garbage, a practice that releases toxic fumes.

The Rangers quickly alerted the Environment & Resources Authority (ERA), who arrived within 15 minutes. Thanks to precise descriptions and coordinates, ERA officers took swift action.

Illegal open-air waste burning, especially plastics like PVC, produces harmful green smoke containing chlorine gas and toxic chemicals like dioxins. These pose serious health risks, including respiratory issues and cancer.

Both offenders will face administrative fines starting at €1200.
