‘Il-Vapur Tal-Art’ & More Photos Of Malta From The Past

Local
Carmelo Gauci has shared more vintage photos of Malta from the past, showcasing a different look of the island in black-and-white.
The photos show the ‘Vapur tal-Art’ (Land Vessel) from 1883-1931, the railway that spanned Valletta to Mdina. It was a single track line and the only railway line ever on the island.
The photos also show an ‘Unspoilt Spinola’, with fishermen going about their business in the 1920s.
Another photo shows a side-view of the Old Parish Church of Żejtun, with a ‘soft limestone statue of Pope St Gregory in the foreground as sculpted in 1838 by Salvatore Dimech.’
