“Il-mument li rajt lin-nanna, għajnejja mtlew bid-dmugħ u ma stajtx inżommhom” - Henry Galea

Local artist Henry Galea has shared his deep emotions following the lighting of this year’s Christmas tree in Valletta, describing the overwhelming sense of community as the city came together to celebrate the festive season.
“I still can’t believe what happened yesterday,” Galea wrote. “When I saw the tree lit up, and saw my family my grandmother, my grandfather alongside friends like Jason Zerafa and Ryan Pillow, and the Maltese people gathered together… my heart just burst.”
He revealed how the sight of his grandmother moved him to tears, “The moment I saw her, my eyes filled with tears and I couldn’t hold them back. This project was created from the heart, with so much love for our country, but I never imagined this reaction.”
Galea expressed pride not only in the work he and his team accomplished but also in the way Malta embraced the tree. He thanked everyone who attended, shared kind words, or simply felt the spirit of Christmas together.
Galea shared deep gratitude to Jason Micallef, Owen Bonnici, and the entire Valletta Cultural Agency team, acknowledging that the project would not have been possible without their support.
“The heart of Christmas is all about love,” Galea reflected. “Yesterday, it was wonderful to see the heart of the Maltese people shining as brightly as this tree. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Malta. You brought me here.”
