‘I Am Not Driven Through Traffic Like You’, Borg Tells PM

Opposition Leader Alex Borg said he missed the start of the prime minister’s statement in Parliament because he was caught in traffic.
“Unlike you, I don’t have an escort to drive me through, so I was stuck in traffic like everyone else,” Borg told Prime Minister Robert Abela during Tuesday’s sitting.
Borg’s remarks followed a comment by Labour Whip Naomi Cachia, who criticised the PN leader for not being present at the start of the prime minister’s address.
PN Whip Robert Cutajar also voiced concern that the Opposition was only given two hours’ notice before the sitting, limiting MPs’ ability to prepare.
Borg added, “The prime minister thinks the world revolves around him and decided to give us such short notice.”
In response, the Prime Minister said Borg should have prioritised the session and made sure to arrive on time. “He didn’t see it important enough to be in the chamber,” he said.
