Huge Palestine Flag Displayed During Ħamrun Clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv

A large Palestine flag was displayed during Ħamrun Spartans’ European match against Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
The game was held at the Hibernians stadium instead of the Ta’ Qali National Stadium, which was deemed unfit for the tie.
Only around 50 Tel Aviv supporters were present.
Outside the stadium, activist group Ġustizzja għall-Palestina, supported by other organisations, held a protest opposing the match.
They labelled the game a “local concern,” citing claims that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans have a history of violent and provocative behaviour at away fixtures.
The match reignited broader questioning of UEFA and FIFA, with many football fans questioning why Israeli clubs are allowed to compete internationally, particularly when other nations, like Russia, have faced suspensions from international football over political conflicts.
