A local business recently fell under fire after projecting their advert on Valletta’s fortifications, a UNESCO World Site.

After public outrage, Valletta Mayor Olaf McKay took to social media, stating that he “condemns this brazen act on the walls of Valletta.”

He proceeded to reassure the public that they are doing their utmost to “protect, strengthen, and give the appropriate dignity to the capital city,” and “will not accept this kind of abuse on our historical sites.”

Hotty Burger responded in the comments of McKay’s post, sincerely apologising to “all the people of Malta” for the “recent incident.”

“Due to a misunderstanding, an unfortunate mistake was made,” said the business, “As soon as the authorities contacted us, we immediately removed the advertisement.”

“We never intended to disrespect Malta’s history or heritage, nor to cause any offence or harm,” they continued.

Hotty Burger expressed their deepest regrets over what happened, stating that “they remain committed to showing respect for the culture, history, and values of this beautiful country.”
