Hot Friday To Give Way To Cooler Weekend: More Comfortable Weather Ahead

Malta and Gozo are set for a hot and mainly sunny weekend, with Friday expected to be the warmest day. A yellow heat warning has been issued, with temperatures forecast to reach a high of 35°C, while overnight temperatures will remain exceptionally warm at around 26°C.
Friday will begin with clear, sunny skies before becoming rather cloudy overnight. Winds will initially be rather strong from the west northwest, gradually easing and turning east overnight.
Conditions are expected to become slightly more comfortable over the weekend, although temperatures will remain firmly in summer territory.
Both Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be partly cloudy, with daytime highs of around 31°C and overnight lows remaining close to 26°C. Winds will also be lighter, becoming moderate from the south south east at times.
No rainfall is currently forecast throughout the weekend, making it ideal for outdoor activities.
Sea temperatures remain unusually high at around 29°C, well above the July average of 25.2°C recorded between 1991 and 2020, providing excellent swimming conditions.
However, those heading out to sea on Friday should exercise caution, as the stronger northwesterly winds are expected to produce moderate seas with waves exceeding two metres later in the day.
Looking ahead, settled weather is expected to continue into next week, with plenty of sunshine, generally light winds and daytime temperatures ranging between 31°C and 32°C.
