Historic Event For Peace In Gaza Held Last Night

The Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government, together with Arts Council Malta and Heritage Malta, organised “Qalbna Magħkom”, an evening of solidarity with Palestine, following Malta’s official recognition of the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly.
Held at the Grand Master’s Palace, which was opened free of charge to the public, the event blended art, music, and cultural expression as a way of raising awareness of the humanitarian situation in Palestine and reaffirming Malta’s commitment to peace through dialogue.
The programme featured a diverse range of performances and exhibitions. Benji Cachia presented Akshara, a multi-disciplinary showcase of traditional instruments, while Jolene Samhan performed live alongside her band.
The literary NGO Inizjamed introduced readings of works by Palestinian authors, offering audiences a chance to engage with Palestinian voices directly.
Photographer René Rossignaud exhibited a striking collection of images from inside Gaza, while Michell Borge contributed with an installation titled Lest We Forget.
The evening also included a set by DJ Riolo and participation from the Palestinian Youth Group, adding further cultural and community perspectives.
Minister Owen Bonnici described the initiative as a way of allowing art to “become a voice of solidarity and reflection,” underlining Malta’s call for peace.
