A woman has come forward to share how she encountered a man attempting to sell a small dog while she was shopping in the area.

The man, believed to be a drug user, approached her with the dog and offered to sell him on the spot.

Sensing something was wrong, she offered a small amount of money, which he initially refused, before accepting €20 and immediately running off.

The dog was clearly distressed — shaking, frightened, and showing no sign of recognising the man who had been holding him.

It later emerged that the dog had been stolen from his real owner and was being sold to obtain drug money.

Thanks to the woman’s intervention, the dog has since been safely returned to his family. She has also filed a police report to assist authorities in addressing the case.

The incident serves as a stark reminder that dog thefts are happening, and residents are being urged to remain alert to protect their pets.

The woman has been widely praised for stepping in and helping rescue the terrified dog from further harm.
