Here Are All the Gozo-Related Budget 2026 Measures

The 2026 Budget includes a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving Gozo’s infrastructure, education, health, culture, and the environment.
Infrastructure & Transport: Completion of streets beneath the Citadel, new road link between Triq Fortunato Mizzi and Triq Marsalforn, reconstruction of major roads in Rabat, Nadur, and Qala, plus a traffic and public transport study for central Rabat.
Connectivity with Malta: Task force to improve use of Mġarr Harbour; Gozo Rural Airfield project approved with runway extensions and sustainable tourism development.
Education: Modernisation of primary and middle schools across Gozo, including a €280 monthly allowance for over 800 students attending post-secondary education in Malta.
Community & Arts: €5.7 million investment in social inclusion initiatives, Blossom early mental health programme, and creation of the Vajringa Centre for Music and the Arts for children with disabilities.
Sports Facilities: New Padiljun Sportiv u Akkwatiku in Rabat, upgrades to horse racing tracks, shooting ranges, football facilities, and plans for a new athletic track.
Open Spaces & Environment: Victoria Park project in Rabat (€20 million), restoration of public gardens, and integration of family-friendly open spaces.
Health: Expansion of Gozo Hospital’s Outpatients Department, new helipad, renal and coronary units, hyperbaric and high-dependency units, plus ongoing Gozo HealthCare Campus development.
Culture & Heritage: Inauguration of the Gozo Museum in Rabat and Viticulture Museum in Qala; restoration of Santa Marta Cemetery and Santu Wistin Convent façade.
Agriculture: Development of Experimental Farm in Xewkija into a modern hub for testing and training to support local farmers.
These measures highlight the government’s commitment to enhancing quality of life and economic opportunities for Gozo residents.
