Hedgehog Rescued After Getting Stuck In Corradino Prison Grounds

The Wildlife Rescue Team had a peculiar rescue this week. In short, they had to rescue a hedgehog from prison!

This little hedgehog, named Nina, somehow found his way onto the grounds of the Correctional Services Agency, only to discover that getting into prison is easier than getting out!

Ninu got trapped in a narrow space behind a gate and couldn’t free himself. Thankfully, a correctional social worker spotted the tiny inmate and contacted the team for help.

Ninu was named after Ninu Xkora, a figure at the centre of one of Corradino Prison’s best known ghost stories.

The hedgehog was quite dehydrated, so he will have to stay in rehab so that he is fit before returning to the wild. If you spot such animals in danger or injured, please call the Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505.
