Health Ministry Launches Free Seasonal Vaccination Programme

The Ministry for Health and Active Ageing has begun its seasonal vaccination programme, offering essential protection against influenza, COVID-19, and pneumococcal disease to those eligible, free of charge.

The influenza vaccine is updated each year to match the most prevalent strains and is available to everyone over six months of age. Similarly, the COVID-19 vaccine has been updated to include the latest variants (LP 8.1) and is offered to all over six months. The Pneumococcal 20 Vaccine (PCV20) provides lifelong protection against serious infections such as pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis, and is available to anyone over 18.

These vaccines play a vital role in reducing preventable illness, particularly among vulnerable groups such as older adults, individuals with chronic conditions, pregnant women, and healthcare workers. Adults can receive the vaccines daily from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Health Centres across Malta and Gozo. Children aged six months to eight years will be able to access the service from 8 November 2025, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, at the Health Centres in Floriana, Mosta, Ċensu Moran in Paola, and Rabat, Gozo.

Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela, encouraged the public to take full advantage of the free vaccination services. He emphasised that vaccination is an important step in protecting both oneself and loved ones and urged everyone to visit their nearest health centre or family doctor to benefit from this key public health initiative.
