Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Ian Borg has continued a series of visits to healthcare institutions across Malta as part of his first official engagements since assuming responsibility for the health portfolio.

The visits have taken Dr Borg to Mater Dei Hospital, Karen Grech Hospital, the Rabat Health Centre in Malta and, most recently, Gozo General Hospital, where he met healthcare professionals, management, support staff and patients.

The aim of the visits is to assess services first-hand, identify challenges facing the sector and explore practical solutions to strengthen Malta's healthcare system.

Borg said the visits had provided an opportunity to witness the ongoing investment in healthcare while identifying areas requiring further regeneration and improvement.

He praised the dedication and professionalism of frontline healthcare workers, describing their commitment to patient care as evident in every institution he visited.

He stressed the importance of listening to both healthcare professionals and patients before taking key decisions on the future of the sector, adding that patients in Malta and Gozo must remain at the centre of every policy decision.

During his visit to Gozo General Hospital, Ian Borg also underlined the need to continue expanding healthcare services on the island to ensure Gozitans have access to modern, high-quality care close to home.

He said the programme of visits would continue in the coming weeks alongside further investment and initiatives aimed at strengthening the national health service.
