HEALTH CENTRES IN QORMI, GŻIRA AND VICTORIA TO BEGIN 24/7 SERVICE, PM ANNOUNCES

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced that if elected into government, the health centres in Qormi, Gżira and Victoria, Gozo will begin operating 24 hours a day as part of continued investment in Malta’s primary healthcare sector.
The proposal was revealed during a political meeting, with Abela highlighting the government’s commitment to improving access to healthcare services for patients across Malta and Gozo.
The move aims to offer round-the-clock medical assistance, making healthcare more accessible while easing pressure on other parts of the public health system.
Abela said the extended opening hours build on recent investments in health centres across the islands, as the government continues to strengthen community-based healthcare services.
The Prime Minister also announced that public health services will begin providing continuous blood glucose monitors to Type 2 diabetes patients, following full coverage for Type 1 diabetes, gestational diabetes and post-pancreas-removal diabetes patients.
Insulin pump access will also be extended to more patients after the successful rollout to children and young people up to 18 years of age last year.
