GŻIRA SCAFFOLDING COLLAPSE BEING INVESTIGATED AS CLEAN-UP OPERATIONS UNDERWAY

Earlier this morning, scaffolding at a construction site in Reggie Miller Street, Gżira, collapsed, causing disruption in the surrounding area.
Sources close to Malta Daily have confirmed that no injuries have been reported following the incident.
In a joint statement, the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) said they are investigating the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that the scaffolding collapsed while works were being carried out. Authorities confirmed that the contractor and developer involved had obtained the necessary permits for the works.
Both OHSA and the BCA are currently on site and overseeing ongoing operations to remove the scaffolding and reopen the road as soon as possible.
Investigations into the cause of the collapse are still ongoing.
