“Gżejjer F'Kontinent” is a new publication launched by European Services in Malta (SEM) together with Europe Direct Valletta, offering an artistic and reflective exploration of Malta’s journey within the European Union.

Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, was present for the announcement of this publication, and praised the initiative for encouraging deeper public awareness and dialogue about the EU.

This fourth collaboration between SEM and Europe Direct Valletta brings together seven stories written by established Maltese authors, edited by Clare Azzopardi and illustrated by Julian Mallia.

Unlike earlier publications targeted at younger readers, this edition is intended for adults and delves into how EU membership has shaped Maltese identity on both personal and societal levels.

Themes include youth opportunities, ageing in a European context, women’s evolving roles, multiculturalism, integration, and the everyday impact of EU funding. SEM Chief Executive Rodrick Zerafa highlighted the book as an invitation for citizens to reflect on Malta’s past, present, and future within the European community.

The book is available in public libraries, residential homes, community centres, and as a free copy from SEM, with a digital version accessible online.
