Earlier this week, AAA Malta rescued a severely injured dog who arrived at their facility on Tuesday in critical condition.

The dog, now named Guzeppi, was struck in the midsection and suffered a fractured upper arm which was fixed through emergency orthopaedic surgery, and also major trauma to his chest wall caused by the force of the impact.

Following  his surgery, Guzeppi remains hospitalised in an attempt to treat his other extensive injuries.

He is currently receiving intensive veterinary care, including a cocktail of medicines.

In a heartbreaking FaceBook post, the staff at Association for Abandoned Animals Malta say that although they’re doing everything possible, they can’t guarantee he’ll survive.

In their post, AAA Malta expressed anger at those who abandon or allow dogs to roam freely, linking such neglect to Guzeppi’s suffering. They highlighted the “needless suffering of animals” and the heavy financial toll of trying to repair such damage.

“We got him on Tuesday, and those past two days have been one long struggle, so he will make it… Come on, tiny boy, we already love you, you can do it,” they wrote, promising updates on his condition as treatment continues.
