Grass Fire Brought Under Control By CPD Near Addolorata Cemetery In Paola

Civil Protection Department firefighters were called to tackle a spreading grass fire near the Addolorata Cemetery in Paola on Thursday.

In a statement, the Civil Protection Department confirmed that personnel from Fire Stations 1, 4, 8 and 11 responded to the incident and worked to contain the blaze as it spread through the area adjacent to the cemetery.

The fire has since been brought under control, with firefighters carrying out cooling operations to extinguish any remaining hotspots and prevent the flames from reigniting.

A medical team from Mater Dei Hospital's Emergency Department was placed on standby at the scene as a precaution, while officers from the Malta Police Force also assisted during the operation.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
