Grand Harbour Revival Plan Has Been Promised Before 2013 Election, Says PN

The Nationalist Party has issued a statement criticising the Labour Government’s consultation on the Grand Harbour Revival Plan, describing it as “yet another recycled promise”.

Speaking on behalf of The Partit Nazzjonalista, Shadow Minister for Work, the Maritime Sector and Aviation, Ivan Castillo, on behalf of the Nationalist Party said that “the same plan was announced ahead of the 2013, 2017 and 2022 elections” and is now being presented once again as “another election draws closer”.

According to the Nationalist Party, despite these repeated announcements, “residents of the Grand Harbour area have continued to wait for any tangible improvement in their quality of life”.

The PN argued that promises have consistently failed to translate into real action on the ground, leaving communities frustrated and underserved.

The statement stresses that the Partit Nazzjonalista “supports every project that genuinely improves the Grand Harbour area”, noting that this commitment was shown “in practice when it was in government”.

However, it insists that the area deserves “a serious and transparent plan with a long-term vision”, rather than initiatives that “only surface before elections and disappear afterwards”.

Referring to the government’s latest proposal, the PN said it will be “consulting all relevant stakeholders”

to ensure that the project is implemented properly, provided it “does not once again remain shelved as happened after it was promised before the last three elections”.

The Nationalist Party concluded that any revival plan must serve “the best interests of residents, stakeholders and the maritime sector” and ultimately benefit the country as a whole.
