Gozo Road Upgrades Continue With Sir Arturo Mercieca Street Reopening

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has announced the completion of infrastructure works on Sir Arturo Mercieca Street in Rabat, Gozo.
“Triq Sir Arturo Mercieca demonstrates that the projects we are carrying out in Gozo are not just about resurfacing roads,” Minister Camilleri said. “They represent a long-term investment in the quality of life of our residents. By upgrading drainage, water, and lighting systems, we are ensuring infrastructure that is modern, safe, and sustainable for years to come.”

The project included a complete overhaul of the drainage system to improve efficiency and reduce the likelihood of future problems. A new main water pipe was installed to reinforce the primary network in Rabat, improving supply in the area, along with a new system of stormwater pipes. Extensive electrical works were also carried out, with three new low-tension cables installed to strengthen the power supply, while obsolete cables were removed entirely. Finally, the road surface was rebuilt from scratch, providing a safer driving experience.
Several other road improvement projects are currently underway across Gozo, aimed at strengthening essential networks and continuing the enhancement of infrastructure quality.
Minister Camilleri emphasised that this project forms part of a wider programme of road modernisation and essential services upgrades in Gozo, designed to improve the quality of life and reinforce the island’s infrastructure.
