GOZO FERRY DELAYS EXPECTED DUE TO WINDY WEATHER FORECAST
Local

Gozo Channel operations are expected to experience delays today due to adverse weather conditions affecting the Maltese Islands. As a precaution, ferry services are currently being routed via the Comino channel, a move that may result in longer crossing times for passengers.

The disruption comes as the Met Office issued an orange warning for strong to very strong west-northwesterly winds, with gusts potentially reaching gale force in exposed areas. The warning is in effect from 12:00 to 21:00 (GMT+1) and may be updated depending on how conditions develop.

Strong winds, reaching Force 6 to 7, are expected to mainly affect coastal and exposed areas as a low-pressure system over the Mediterranean continues to influence local weather. Isolated showers may also occur.

The impact of the windy conditions was already evident yesterday, with a video shared on TikTok showing barricades pushed over and umbrellas blown sideways in Valletta.

Passengers travelling between Malta and Gozo are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to remain attentive to official updates as weather conditions remain unsettled.
