Gozo Channel Services Experiencing Delays Due to Adverse Weather
Local

Gozo Channel Operations Ltd communicated this morning that ferry services are not operating according to the normal schedule due to adverse weather conditions.

The company stated that every effort is being made to restore operations to normal as soon as possible.

“Nixtiequ navżaw li minħabba l-maltemp mhux qed noperaw l-iskeda normali. Qed nagħmlu mill-aħjar li nistgħu biex is-servizz jiġi għan-normal,” the statement read.

The disruption follows the impact of Storm Harry, which hit the Maltese islands on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. The storm brought strong winds reaching up to 100km/h (Force 10), rough sea conditions, and heavy rainfall.

The last ferry crossing prior to the storm departed on Monday, 19 January, at around 6pm. Shortly afterwards, Gozo Channel Operations Ltd announced the suspension of services due to the severe weather.

Ferry operations were briefly resumed on Wednesday at 8am; however, services were halted again approximately two hours later as conditions deteriorated. Later in the evening, Gozo Channel announced that trips would resume, while cautioning passengers to expect delays as the weather situation remained unstable.

As of now, ferry services are still operating. Further updates will be issued if necessary.
