Gozo Channel Issues Tender for Fourth Ferry to Boost Malta–Gozo Service

Gozo Channel Operations Ltd, on behalf of the Ministry for Gozo, has launched a competitive tender for the charter of a fourth vessel to operate on the Malta–Gozo route.

The move aims to strengthen the current fleet and improve the reliability, efficiency, and frequency of the ferry service between Ċirkewwa and Mġarr. The vessel will be secured through a time charter agreement for an initial period of two years.

According to the Ministry, the tender is open to a wide range of operators and will be evaluated based on the best balance between price and quality.

The additional ferry is expected to help meet growing demand for both passengers and vehicles, while also improving service resilience during busy periods.

The Ministry for Gozo said the initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to improve connectivity between Malta and Gozo, which remains essential for residents, businesses, and the island’s economy.
