Government To Extend Veterinary Services Through Private Clinics

A state funded support programme for veterinary clinics to offer emergency care for small domestic animals has been launched.
The initiative aims at providing assistance in genuine emergency cases that occur outside normal working hours, when access to veterinary services can be more limited and costly for pet owners.
As part of this programme, a call for expressions of interest has been issued to private veterinary clinics operating in Malta and Gozo.
Clinics are being invited to apply to participate in the scheme in line with the established eligibility criteria.
Once approved, participating clinics will be able to offer emergency veterinary services to their clients with the support of state funding, helping to reduce the financial burden on pet owners during urgent situations.
The programme is intended to strengthen access to essential veterinary care, particularly during nights, weekends and public holidays, when emergency treatment can be critical to the health and wellbeing of animals.
