Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Robert Abela has announced a series of new measures aimed at improving the quality of life for young people and Maltese families, during a discussion organised by Żgħażagħ Laburisti in Tas-Sliema.

Among the key announcements was a new scheme intended to ease financial pressure on students awarded Masters or Doctoral scholarships.

A Labour government would begin advancing the first payment of government-administered scholarships to help students cover initial study-related costs before regular instalments begin.

Dr Abela also said planning rules would be updated to facilitate the installation of structures for Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) and related sports, while a new national app would be launched to provide information on the location and opening hours of sports facilities across Malta and Gozo.

In healthcare, he announced that medicines for endometriosis and adenomyosis would be added to the government formulary and provided free of charge, alongside a national awareness campaign to improve early diagnosis.

The Prime Minister said the measures form part of a wider vision placing wellbeing, opportunity and quality of life at the centre of policy.
