The Department of Public Works has signed a new agreement with the National Association of Band Clubs aimed at strengthening support for Malta’s band clubs and preserving an important part of the country’s cultural heritage.

The initiative will see the launch of an annual funding scheme every October over the next five years, allowing band clubs across Malta to apply for financial assistance for maintenance and beautification projects at their premises. Each club will be eligible to apply for projects of up to €50,000.

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia said the agreement builds on ongoing support provided by the Department to voluntary organisations and musical societies in recent years.

Farrugia described the agreement as “very strong”, saying it would further strengthen collaboration between Public Works and the National Association of Band Clubs to help projects become a reality.

Association President Noel Camilleri said the agreement formalises work carried out over the past two years and ensures continued national assistance for band societies.
