Għajnsielem celebrated the official inauguration of its Library and Marine Educational Centre, a €150,000 project largely funded by the EU. The ceremony, attended by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli, and Mayor Kevin Cauchi, marked a significant milestone for the community.

The center, boasting a library and educational space, aims to showcase Għajnsielem’s rich marine heritage. Mayor Kevin Cauchi commended the collaborative effort behind the project, acknowledging the Italia-Malta AMPPA and CORALLO +SI projects. This initiative follows the establishment of a similar center in Dwejra (San Lawrenz) in 2013 through the PANACEA project, reflecting Gozo’s commitment to ocean literacy.

As the wave of ocean literacy sweeps through Gozo, fueled by effective use of regional funds, Mayor Kevin Cauchi looks forward to more joint projects benefiting the community. The inauguration signals a new chapter for Għajnsielem, inviting residents to explore, learn, and appreciate the wonders of the marine world.
