GEORGE ATTARD RECEIVES MICHELIN YOUNG CHEF AWARD

Gozo-born chef George Attard has been awarded the prestigious MICHELIN Young Chef Award, recognising his exceptional talent and contribution to Malta’s culinary scene.
At just 31, Attard has already honed his skills at five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Malta before returning to his native island to lead Level Nine at The Grand Hotel Gozo.
Located on the top floor of the hotel overlooking Mgarr harbour, Level Nine reflects Attard’s contemporary Mediterranean style, combining local inspiration with modern culinary techniques, aesthetic finesse, and pure, authentic flavours.
MICHELIN inspectors particularly praised his signature "Lamb Rump," served with anchovies, shallots, and a parmentiere sauce, noting both the creativity and precise presentation of the dish.
Attard’s achievement highlights the growing international recognition of Maltese and Gozo-based chefs, demonstrating that the islands can nurture culinary talent of the highest calibre.
By returning home to lead a prominent kitchen, Attard not only showcases his skills but also contributes to the development of a vibrant gastronomic culture in Gozo, inspiring the next generation of chefs.
His award marks a significant milestone in a career already defined by dedication, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
