Fundraising Page Launched For Family Displaced After Birkirkara Garage Fire
Local

On Wednesday 11th February 2026, a major fire broke out in a garage on Valley Road, Birkirkara, involving electric scooters and lithium batteries.

The blaze required the efforts of 39 firefighters, 11 Senior Fire Officers, and 16 fire appliances, using 220,000 litres of water and 5,000 litres of foam to bring it under control. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The fire has left the families living directly above the garage without a home. While they escaped harm, the damage to their residence is extensive, smoke, blackened walls and ceilings, broken or missing windows, and rooms covered in foam and debris.

Personal belongings, including furniture, clothing, documents, and irreplaceable keepsakes, were destroyed or severely damaged.

To safely retrieve their possessions, the families required police escort, highlighting not just the material loss, but the emotional toll of seeing their home in ruins.

A fundraising page has now been launched to assist the affected families. Donations will go directly toward repairing and rebuilding their home, replacing essential belongings, and helping them restore a safe and livable environment.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. Supporters are encouraged to donate and share the campaign to help the families rebuild their lives.

For those wishing to contribute, the donation page can be accessed here.
